- Increase in grain yield in maize lines and hybrids can be obtained in plants overexpressing cytosolic glutamine synthetase (GS1).
- The enzyme glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) plays an essential role in the supply of carbon to plants under sugar-deficient growth conditions.
- By examining the existence of a potential link between leaf physiology and grain production, we have highlighted that different markers of leaf metabolism reflect the genetic diversity of maize. This work opens the way to the selection of varieties with high grain yield.
- The growth of maize plants can be improved when inoculated with non-symbiotic nitrogen-fixing bacteria and mycorrhizal arbuscular fungi

- Genetic diversity is observed in the response of maize to the beneficial microorganisms used Azospirillum sp. and Rhizophagus irregularis
