Meiotic Mechanisms: A live imaging approach - A 3-year post-doctoral fellowship
Project
We are currently seeking a motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join our team: MeioMe. Our research focuses on investigating the mechanisms involved in meiosis from various perspectives, with a specific emphasis on unraveling the intricate interplay between chromosome dynamics and meiotic recombination.
We have recently implemented an innovative approach to track individual chromosomes in living anthers. This involves the use of 3D fluorescence time-lapse microscopy on male reproductive organs, coupled with quantitative image analysis. We recently provided the first comprehensive description of meiotic prophase chromosome movements in Arabidopsis thaliana (preprint link). This breakthrough opens the door to numerous investigations, providing the recruited post-doc with an opportunity to express they scientific curiosity in the following area:
> Understanding the function of chromosome movements during meiotic prophase
> Deciphering the mechanisms that generate these movements
> Comparing the behaviors of different genome regions
> Studying homologous chromosome recognition and pairing during meiotic prophase
The recruited post-doc will collaborate with highly skilled technicians and engineers from our group who will assist for experimental design, imaging set up and data analyses. They will benefit from a rich scientific environment provided by our institute and the collaborative network within MeioMe team.

Background and skills
> PhD in a relevant field (genetics, cell biology, molecular biology, etc.)
> A background in chromosome dynamics, meiosis, or related areas will be appreciated.
> Proficiency in experimental design of imaging techniques is strongly welcomed.
> Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Salary
Gross income from €2500 to €3300, depending on your experience.
