The Institut Jean-Pierre Bourgin celebrates its 10th anniversary at "Esprit Jardin", Versailles!

2-3 October 2021 - Come and experiment on the theme: "DNA plays scrabble to better adapt".
The Institut Jean-Pierre Bourgin turned 10 in 2020!!
With a little delay, we will welcome you on a stand at the Versailles plant festival "Esprit jardin" to make you discover the plants we grow in our greenhouses in Versailles. Our laboratory "green mouse", the thale cress, will be there and you will be able to observe it from every angle!

The inter and intra species genetic diversity defines the geographical distribution of plants in the world. Some are able to adapt to different and sometimes extreme environments, others are not. How can this variability be explained? What is the source of this diversity? For example, mimicking the synthesis of a DNA strand will allow you to illustrate the cellular mechanisms that generate this diversity and its consequences on the morphology of plants and their ability to resist stress and environmental constraints. This will allow you to touch the notion of mutation and what kind of mutations it can be. There will be something for all ages!
