Isabelle DEBEAUJON Research Scientist

Research Scientist | Seed Development and Quality

Iam an INRAE research scientist and Iam interested in the differentiation of seed coat integuments in the model species Arabidopsis thaliana, particularly in the metabolism of proanthocyanidins also called condensed tannins, that are polyphenols belonging to the flavonoid class.

My research mainly aims at studying proanthocyanidin vacuolar compartmentation and the regulation of their biosynthesis by oxidative stress. Iam also interested in the role of these specialized metabolites in seed development and immunity. I use molecular genetics, cell biology, cytology, biochemistry and analytical chemistry approaches to analyze the phenotypes of the different Arabidopsis transparent testa (tt) mutants affected in proanthocyanidin metabolism and to characterize the fonctions of the corresponding genes.
