The IJPB at the 2025 Paris International Agricultural Show
Come and discover two examples of IJPB research at the AgroParisTech stand through scientific workshops.
Guttation: How Plants Avoid Burnout
Monday, February 24 and Friday, February 28, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
Balance is essential - accumulating stress and pressure can lead to burnout. It’s the same for plants. Sometimes, they "cry," and this phenomenon has a name: guttation. This crucial mechanism helps them release excess moisture and avoid being overwhelmed. But when do plants need to "cry"? How does this process work? And what happens if they don’t release the pressure? Come discover the plants' secret to avoiding burnout through a game and an experiment!
All in color maize or how to select better corn to feed cows and more drought-resistant corn!
Friday, February 28, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm
From the cow's perspective, what makes corn more digestible? What do they look like? From the scientist's perspective, how can they be identified? Come discover, through games, a quiz, and by observing stem cross-sections, what a cow-beneficial and water-efficient corn looks like! These activities reflect some of the research work of the "Biomass Quality and Interactions with Drought" QUALIBIOSEC team, a long-term effort from the laboratory to the field and from the field to the laboratory.
Workshops based on research developed at the Institute Jean-Pierre Bourgin for Plant Sciences.
