Two new INRAE Research Scientists recruited on projects at the IJPB
Adrián Gonzalo Sanchez will join the "Meiosis Mechanisms" MeioMe team, were he was PhD student during the period 2014-2017
He will develop the following project project:
Unlocking recombination in cold peri-centromeres to empower crop improvement
Meiotic recombination generates genetic diversity that fuels evolution and also crop breeding, but it is suppressed in certain genomic regions. In some abnormal karyotypes, recombination is unexpectedly unlocked in these cold regions. This project aims to uncover the causes of this effect and explore its breeding applications.
Wenjia Xu will join the "Chromatin Dynamics and Signalling" CHRODYNO. She was Post-Doc in the team.
She will develop the following project:
The interplay between trehalose metabolism and signaling in seeds
In angiosperms, seed development begins with double fertilization, which produces the embryo and endosperm while inducing significant changes in the surrounding maternal tissues. Although only the embryo directly contributes to the next generation, the coordinated growth of all seed tissues is essential for its survival. Successful formation of a viable seed depends indeed on a complex signaling network that synchronizes and integrates the growth and function of its components. This project aims at addressing the role of trehalose, a non-reducing disaccharide, in regulating the interplay between metabolism, hormone signaling and epigenetics in seed development.
Research developed at the Institute Jean-Pierre Bourgin for Plant Sciences.
