The IJPB at the 18th edition of Esprit Jardin
A workshop on DNA on April 25th and 26th, 2025 in Versailles
Esprit Jardin was launched more than 15 years ago and brings together more than 20,000 people passionate about plants and gardens. This major event provides the opportunity to raise awareness among both young and older people about science in an unexpected setting, to discover another facet of plants, and to awaken and satisfy the curiosity of the general public.
Following the success of its first participation in Esprit Jardin 2021, marking its 10th anniversary, the IJPB renewed the experience in: 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. For 2026, a new workshop on the programme!
Workshop - DNA in motion!
Come and see chromosomes moving at a speed of around 100nm/sec during plant reproduction in video, observe dividing cells under a microscope, and even prepare some DNA and see it with the naked eye! There’ll also be puzzles and quizzes for all ages.
You will get to know the plants studied at the IJPB and the different ways of growing the "green mouse" of the plant research laboratories: the lady's cress, a plant of the Brassicaceae family (ex Cruciferae), a small cousin of edible plants as cabbage, radish, mustar, rapeseed and garden plants as pope's coin, alysse and wallflower.
