Welcome Morning for New IJPB PhD Students
This morning session is organized annually by the group of IJPB thesis referents, which is composed of IJPB scientists addressing new PhD students. It is aimed at new PhD students to introduce them to the members and missions of the group, and concludes with a friendly gathering to encourage informal discussions.
The role of the referents group, which aims to facilitate the life of PhD students at IJPB throughout their thesis, is as follows:
> Inform on the organization, functioning, scientific life of IJPB, and its science outreach activities
> Personally support each PhD student during their stay at IJPB to provide any help needed
> Act as a key contact for suggestions, questions, and help in solving problems beyond scientific supervision
> Serve as a liaison with IJPB management by conveying messages and requests, as well as with the doctoral school and, if needed, with supervisors
>Help and encourage involvement in the scientific and collective life of IJPB
French and English support mementos are available on the IJPB Intranet page dedicated to PhD students as a complement. Each year, PhD students have a meeting with an advisor of their choice. A private email group for PhD students exists to foster communication and prevent isolation. The thesis advisors also organize a career day every two years, during which former IJPB PhD students speak to present their career paths and opportunities in non-academic fields (see IJPB news).
The group of IJPB thesis referents
It currently consists of 8 scientific members: Nicolas Arnaud, Jasmine Burguet, Betty Cottyn, Vincent Coustham, Isabelle Debeaujon, Sophie Jasinski, Rajeev Kumar, and Matthieu Simon. This group was created in 2017 on the initiative of IJPB researchers.
In connection with the research developed at the Institute Jean-Pierre Bourgin for Plant Sciences.
